Our company was formed in May 2014 in New Orleans, Louisiana as a partnership (LLC) between Joel Berry and Michael Mayer. The company is a Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business focused primarily on meeting the contracting needs of government agencies.
Joel Berry is a retired Marine Corps Colonel, serving on active duty for 28 years before retiring in 2012. Joel commanded a Combat Logistics Battalion, a Marine Corps Training Base, and served in combat operations in Iraq. He also gained familiarity with large ship operations and equipment, and their associated small boats and landing craft, while serving in the ship's company as Combat Cargo Officer of an amphibious assault ship (LHA), as well as several other deployments on various U.S. Navy amphibious ships as an embarked Marine. Joel is an active sailboat racer, and has owned and maintained a variety of sailboats and powerboats over more than 40 years. Joel is a transplant from Virginia, and has made his home in New Orleans since 2009.
Michael Mayer has worked in, owned and managed yacht repair businesses and yacht brokerages in and around New Orleans for over three decades. Michael grew up in New Orleans, and has been involved in boating his whole life. He has substantial offshore cruising and racing experience, and is familiar with virtually any vessel under 100 feet. Michael has developed an extensive network of business contacts, suppliers and subcontractors while in the yacht repair business that translates directly to work in the government sector.
